Boko Haram poisons water sources in Borno - Nigerian Army

Information reaching the Theatre Command, Operation Lafiya Dole indicates that Boko Haram terrorists have now resorted to poisoning water sources like wells and streams in areas they were dislodged by gallant troops or areas threatened by offensive operations. The latest being the poisoning of the cattle water ponds in Kangallam village along Marte and Abadam axis in Borno State where a large number of cattle died after drinking water from the ponds. 

Ministerial list to be made public next week Tuesday

The ministerial list which was received by Senate President Bukola Saraki this evening, will be made public at the next senate sitting which is on Tuesday October 6th.

Saraki is a British citizen, but passport linked to him forged - UK authority

The authorities in UK have now confirmed that the purported UK passport of Senate President Bukola Saraki, that was published online a few months ago was forged. Her Majesty Passport Office confirmed this after Saraki's lawyer, Andrew Stephenson of Discreet Law, London, inquired how a media house could get hold of someone's passport. The UK authorities admitted that Saraki holds a valid British passport by virtue of being born in the country but the passport passed around is fake

"I can further confirm that the number on the copy of the passport you supplied (marked 2 by yourselves) does not relate to Mr. Saraki,” the letter to Saraki's lawyer, which was sent to Premium Times, stated

No Muslim should be US president: Carson

Washington: Republican presidential hopeful Ben Carson said Sunday no Muslim should be president of the United States, adding a new twist to a controversy roiling the party`s White House nominating race.

In an interview with NBC`s "Meet the Press," Carson, a retired brain surgeon who often refers to his own deep Christian faith, was asked whether a president`s religion should matter.
"I guess it depends on what that faith is. If it`s inconsistent with the values and principles of America, then of course it should matter. But if it fits within the realm of America and consistent with the constitution, no problem," he said.

Mama HID Awolowo dies at 99

Chief (Mrs) Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo, the matriarch of the Awolowo family and wife of late Obafemi Awolowo has died. She passed on in her sleep today September 19th at her Ikenne, Ogun state home at age 99, just two months before turning 100. She was born on November 25, 1915.  May her soul rest in peace, Amen.

African Union suspends Burkina Faso from organization

The African Union has suspended Burkina Faso over Thursday's military coup. The AU said sanctions would be imposed if members of the presidential guard, who staged the coup do not release members of the interim government which includes the interim president, Michel Kafondo. 

The presidents of Benin and Senegal are in the city for talks with the coup leader. Meanwhile Pres. Buhari has condemned the coup in Burkina Faso. Below is a press statement from the presidency..

To further assist returnees and other Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) with education of their children, the Nigerian military has reopened a mixed Primary School in Gwoza, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State yesterday. The military in conjunction with other security agencies and other security stakeholders have placed adequate security measures to ensure the pupils and teachers’ safety and security. Already classes have commenced and the turn out was quite impressive.
